It provides a level of information from the sending carrier to the receiving carrier about what the sending carrier knows about the number that is making that call.

Through a vetting process, a cleaning process is applied to the number with the engine providers and gives them a “fresh start”. Ongoing monitoring and management of those numbers take into account things that are not covered in the vetting process.
