Telarus Creates New Partner Focused Position and Adjusts Field Sales Effort

In a bid to better support its growing number of sales partners, the largest privately-held master agent and cloud services distributor has named Ruth Morford, the VP of the newly created division called ‘Partner Engagement.’ The company has also consolidated three national sales territories into two, with Mike Bettilyon over the West and Midwest Area, Kameron Olsen over the East and Southwest area, and Shane Speakman taking over as its new VP of business development – UCaaS.

Telarus, LLC., master agent and largest privately-held distributor of business cloud infrastructure and contact center services, today announced it had named Ruth Morford to the newly created position of VP of partner engagement to dedicate more executive attention to both new and up-and-coming partners. Ruth had been serving as area VP over the East. To accommodate this change, Telarus has restructured its United States Field Sales Team into two areas: East and West. Mike Bettilyon will serve as the area vice president of the West, and Kameron Olsen, former VP of business development – UcaaS, will move to area vice president over the east. Shane Speakman will take over as the new VP of business development – UcaaS, working strategically with Telarus’ top partners and prospects nationwide to close enterprise UC deals. The moves will create a structure in which a deeper level of support can be provided for more partners (of all sizes), in more markets, in less time.

“Here at Telarus, we obsess over how we can add more value to our sales partners. In many instances, the needs of our large and established partners differ from our new and up-and-coming partners,” said Scott Forbush, SVP of Worldwide Sales for Telarus. “We believe that this new alignment will allow the leaders on my team to leverage their strengths, experience, and knowledge to drive superior partner engagement – not just with our top partners, but with ALL of our partners. Kameron has an excellent resume of running sales teams from his 12 years as VP of Channel for YipTel/Broadvoice. Ruth Morford will be able to leverage her interpersonal skills and relentless drive working to develop partners without being confined to one geography. Shane Speakman will be able to draw on his knowledge and expertise in UCaaS from his time at XO, AireSpring, and working on the front lines for one of our sales partners. We’ve always known we had the right players on our team; we just needed to adjust their positions on the field so we could maximize the impact they could have for our sales partners. We look forward to the positive impact we believe it will make.”

Before this change, the Telarus U.S.-based field sales structure consisted of three smaller “regions” consisting of West, Central, and East. Under the new field alignment, half of the Central will become part of the Western Area under Mike Bettilyon, and the other half will be realigned to the East under Kameron Olsen.

“Here at Telarus, our entire focus is on our partner community,” added Adam Edwards, CEO of Telarus. “This change will allow us as a company to go deeper with our partners, in more places. We know that we’ve got a winning recipe of sales engineering, automated research tools, partner financing, exclusive suppliers, and value-added services that help our partners earn more money with us than they can on their own or with another master agent. Still we needed to find a way to get this message to more people in less time. These changes allow us to accomplish that goal, and at the same time, provide an amazing career path for four of our top vice presidents: Mike Bettilyon, Kameron Olsen, Ruth Morford, and Shane Speakman. It’s a win-win-win for all of us.”

Ruth Morford, the new VP of Partner Engagement, started with Telarus in 2015 in the role of VP of Strategic Partnerships, where she headed up the recruiting of new VAR, MSP, and trusted advisors nationwide. Most recently, Morford was the Area VP of the East, the fastest-growing region in the country due to her and her team’s recruiting efforts.

Mike Bettilyon, the area VP of the West, has been with Telarus since 2015, where he started as the regional vice president of the Mountain West Region.  Under Bettilyon’s leadership, the West Area has consistently been the highest producing region in the country.

Kameron Olsen, the Area VP of the East, signed on with Telarus in January this year after serving as the VP of Sales for YipTel/Broadvoice, where he worked for over 12 years leading and mentoring channel sales teams.

Shane Speakman, the new VP of Business Development – UcaaS, came to Telarus early this year as the Area VP of the Central. Before Telarus, he served as the Channel Director for AireSpring, where, under his leadership, UCaaS sales numbers grew by triple digits. This new alignment will allow Shane to bring his sales and UCaaS experience to the broad base of relationships he has developed nationwide with partners and suppliers.

“It’s important to note that these changes are something that we take very seriously, as we seek to improve the partner experience while trying to minimize the impacts no existing relationships that our sales partners have built with our field sales team,” added Richard Murray, COO of Telarus. ‘As we continue to grow, we need to stay ahead of the curve and ensure the value we provide to our partners doesn’t become diluted. We are confident that these changes will not only prevent that very thing from happening, but it will also help us stay ahead of the curve and expand to many more geographic areas that are looking for technology leadership in cloud communication services. I believe our ‘new and improved’ field sales alignment will be the perfect conduit for our partners to unlock the value we’ve built in our sales engineering group, our UCaaS/CCaaS, Mobility, and Cybersecurity specialty groups, and our patented online research tools.”
