Focusing on Closing Your Leads

The original business model of Telarus centers around the notion that more people can make more money if everyone can focus on that which they excel. Recognizing this, we split out the role of marketing from sales, and introduced the concept of "Lead Generator" and "Closer" (or Product Specialist as it is now called). This would allow people who are great at marketing the chance to find new prospects without having to know all of the highly technical aspects involved in making a commercial telecom sale. And just like the agents who close the sale, the marketing agent shares a percentage of all the residual commission that are paid by our carriers, including bonus SPIFFs.

How it Works

The concept behind the Telarus Lead Agent Program is shown in the flow cart below:





The concept of the Lead Agent Program is fairly basic: you create web pages that focus on telecom services (broadband, high-speed Internet, T1 lines, etc.) and telecom equipment (Avaya, Cisco IP Phones, etc.). These pages then get ranked in Google and attract prospects searching for these very products. Using XML plug-ins that we make available to you free of charge, the lead is then routed to the "best match" closer (for telecom service leads) or VAR (for equipment leads). Once the closer/VAR receives the lead, they will contact the customer direct and assist them with the purchase of a telecom service or piece of equipment.

Once a telecom service sale is made, the Carrier who the customer selects (Carrier B in our example above) will then set up the account directly with the customer, paying Telarus an ongoing residual commission for the life of the account. Telarus then takes that commission and splits it between the closer and the lead generator. The standard split size is 25% for the Lead Generator, 75% for the Closer.

When an equipment sale is make, the VAR will pay Telarus a one-time commission based upon the purchase price of the hardware and/or installation costs they collect from the customer. That commission is then forwarded on to the lead generator.

Telarus then combines the two commission sources and pays the lead generator (who created the marketing pages that drew the prospect into our system) on the 28th day of each month. We pay by EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) or by check via US Mail.
